3 cups warm water
4 tbsp sugar
4 pkg yeast
14 cups unsifted flour
2 cups milk
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp salt
6 tbsp margarine or shortening
Measure warm water and 4 tablesepoons sugar into large bowl. Sprinkle in yeast. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Add 3 cups of flour and let rise until light and spongy. About 30 minutes. Scald milk, stir in the remaining sugar, salt and margarine. Cool to room temperature and then stir into spongy mixture and add enough remaining flour to form soft dough. Pour out onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic...about 10 minutes. Let rise until doubled in size. Punch down and divide into fourths. Shape into loaves. Place in greased pans and let rise until doubled in size. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes (or golden brown)
